Quadrilaterals and Triangles

Whilst on placement, I taught the whole of the Shape topic within Mathematics. From completing a pre-learning assessment I understood that the children have different levels of secure knowledge in their learning. Therefore I devised the following plan.

The G&T child of the class (A) is to aim achieve mastery within the lesson.

STANDARDS

1 – set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds abilities and dispositions.

2 – be aware of all pupils’ capabilities and their prior knowledge, and plan teaching built on these.

2 – demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn and how this impacts learning.

3 – have a secure knowledge of the relevant subject curriculum, foster and maintain pupils’ interest in the subject and misunderstandings.

4 – impart knowledge and development understanding through effective use of lesson time.

4 – contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum with relevant subject areas.

5 – know when and how to differentiate appropriately, using approaches which enable pupils to be taught effectively.

5 – Have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with SEN, those of high ability, those with EAL, with disabilities and able to evaluate teaching approached to engage and support them.

7 – manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment.

8 – Deploy support staff effectively.
